RGI fitter/electrican pointing fingers: timeclock (in)compatible with a Baxi 60/100?

    Any help gratefully appreciated.

    Original (very strange!) setup:
Baxi 60 100 domestic gas boiler (with built in 24 hour clock)
2 zones (upstairs/downstairs) isolated by motorised valves - but valves set up for manually switching only! (2 light switches on wall beside boiler).
Hot water heating operates if either upstairs, downstairs, or neither zone switched on.

Desperate to save money / have easier life so I asked an electrician to install a 3 channel / 7 day timeclock.
Last month he installed a Sauter T37 3-channel timeclock to replace the switches.
I now have Upstairs / Downstairs / Hotwater programmable for 7 days a week.

RGI fitter on subsequent visit says this is poorly wired as power goes from fuse -> timeclock -> boiler. This prevents boiler pump overrun (because clock off = no power to boiler to operate pump overrun) and boiler will eventually fail.
This seems to make sense to me and I asked him can he please rewire or explain correct wiring and I would get electrician to correct.

RGI fitter says not possible to to install any external timeclock with this boiler unless electrician makes modifications to internal boiler wiring.

Electrician happy to rewire but will not touch internal boiler wiring.

    Who's right?
I just want to get a working system.

    Thanks for any help.

The sparks has taken a perfectly good boiler and left one with no frost protection and no ability to dissipate heat, so your boiler can get hotter or colder than its designed to, leading to locking out due to heat or bursting due to cold.

The wiring of this boiler is simplistic, everything is covered in the manual below with pics;) show the sparks and tell him to do it asper the manufactures instructions.

The Sparks doesn't have to touch the internal wiring of the boiler, he only has to bring his wires to the correct point on the boiler given by the manufactures, it's called wiring a boiler and he shouldn't have touched it if he doesn't know how to wire a boiler.

Wouldn't think much of your RGI either for not putting it right on his/her visit, all is required is to change the cable from clock to boiler with one with an extra core and bring a permanent live to the boiler along with the switched live.

I would also look at adding 2 room stats, one for each heating zone so you also have temperature control and not just zone control as this can reduce your gas usage significantly (wireless options are available)

Thank you both very much for responding.

Definitely not impressed with the RGI leaving the situation unchanged either. Especially at rates they charged. Any recommendations for alternative RGI for next service gladly accepted.

Will get the sparks back in to rewire. The manual seems clear - thanks very much for that.

Thermostats - All the rads already have thermostatic valves (not sure they are working as some rooms get to sauna temperature after a while without rads cutting out). Would fitting thermostats be overkill / compatible? The RGI quoted €140 to fit a thermostat on the hot water cylinder (excluding a motorised valve). At that kind of price not sure if we can afford thermostats at the moment.

    Thanks again
