    Hi all
As the family is in expansion mode i was thinking of buying one of these instead of your usual mpv type 7 seater. Has anyone any feedback on these, realiability fuel consumption, comfort etc etc. Was thinking of a 06 to 08 model 2.5 dies el depending on price and trade in . Any feedback welcome

As much as I'm a fan of them, I wouldn't consider them the most suited as a family vehicle.

They are reliable, but heavy on fuel, the back row of seats is far from the best and they are very high for small kids to get in an out of.

Bought a Hyundai santa fe last week for same reason. Very happy with it.

    Thanks guys,
santa fe is probably 2nd on the list how do you find it on fuel so far furte1976 ?

Nissan doctor, any issues with the 2.5 dci engine , injectors or the like ? How bad are they on fuel low 20s or better

TBH, your asking a lot about fuel....if this is close to the top of your concerns list, your looking at the wrong vehicles.

With regards to the engine, once maintained and used properly, they don;t give any major issues. DMF's are a problem(if manual gearbox) if doing lots of city driving, although exactly the same is true of the santa fe.

I put over 100k on a Navara(identical to pathfinder bar body design), almost all motorway driving and the only non service thing it needed was washer pump fuses as it was fond of them when it was frosty out.:P

I thought I read that the early 2.5 litre lump in the Pathfinder/Navara had a reputation for imploding? Any truth in that?

Think its a problem with bearings or something that usually goes at around 100k miles. Can't remember the details but the father got an 03 Navara last year or the year before and ended up spending big money getting it sorted.

As far as I know the newer ones have solved this problem.

OP if I were in your position I'd be looking at getting a VW caravelle. We've had one since 05 and its pretty much the perfect family car.
