BTEA to JSA

Just wondering if anybody knows how long the wait is for changing from BTEA to JSA. I finish college this Friday. I went down to my local social welfare office (Dun Laoghaire) today and asked them and they just told me I had to come in on Monday and tell somebody then.

Will I have to be means tested and have to wait around to hear anything for weeks? Nothing has changed since I moved from JSA to BTEA. I still live at home etc.

    Any help would be great!

Anybody got any info on this? I'm waiting to hear something, filled out the letter I received before the end of college, and now the funds are running low with rent day fast approaching :/

You have to call in as soon as your done. Get a letter from the college to say when you finished and when you go back. They switched mine right there and then. That letter you had to fill in seems to do nothing.

Seriously? Well that's absolute idiocy then...

Yeah. I finished exams on the Friday and went in on the Monday and they gave me another form to fill in and said I needed the note from uni which I got on the Wed. Email is also acceptable apparently. I think the note is only for those in the BTEA section so they can check your cut of date but you don't get put back to JSA unless you tell them.

But the letter was specifically regarding signing on for the summer months? Did you get the letter as well?

A friend of mine in the same situation got it, and when he went in to the welfare office last week he was told we would receive letters in the post telling us dates for collection etc.

I can't remember the details in the letter exactly but I did get one in the middle of exams looking for the end date and the start date of the next year. I haven't seen any letters about the collection I was just told when and where on the day I was in.
