This sounds crazy but, I have been asked to check the possibility of checking in a very heavy machine part on a Ryanair flight. I will be flying on teh sam eflight and I will be checking it into the hold. It weighs approximately 70Kgs in total, including a single item that weighs 35Kg.
:D....So, is this allowed. I ain't paying for it, by the way.
I know excess baggage is 20 Euro per Kg...

This probably sounds like a very silly question but when you asked Ryanair, what did they say?

    Looks unlikely:
Each passenger may check in up to two checked bags upon payment of the applicable checked baggage fees by electing to purchase a checked baggage allowance of either 15 kilos or 20 kilos when make their initial booking. After the booking is made checked baggage can be added to a reservation via the Manage My Booking facility up to 4 hours before the scheduled flight departure time. The checked baggage fees are charged per person/per one way flight and are discounted when booked on-line. Higher baggage fees apply when checked bags are purchased via a Ryanair call centre or airport ticket desk, during peak periods and on selected routes. Fees may vary from time to time but it is the rates in force at the time you book and/or pay for your checked baggage allowance which apply.
    From here

My reading of this would indicate that the very most you could check in per person is 40kg over two items. Most airlins won't accept a single item over 35kg either, although there's no mention of this in Ryanair's T&Cs.

Ryanair won't accept calls at the desk in Shannon Airport. I rang the Airport Information desk and they went and asked the Ryanair staff (only In Ireland). They said 15 Kgs, so I'm confused now. Their Terms & Conditions don't say.

I would say your chances of getting anything onto a passenger plane at 70kgs would be zero.

It would have to be sent as freight.

I agree. Like I said 'crazy'. But it wasn't my suggestion. IYKWIM.
    Thanks to all the replies.

Get UPS, Fedex, or DHL to take it. It'll be a lot cheaper

They won't take it unless you have several people flying with you and you can somehow convince them to take the single 35kg piece as well. As was mentioned above, use UPS, Fedex or DHL.

    Try DHL first.

Don't GLS deliver to Europe now? They're the cheapest within Ireland so may be the cheapest in Europe too.

DHL or DPD would be the best bet after that.

    What does IYKWIM mean?

As far as I know, there is a limit per piece on all airlines. I think its 33kg or something ? Even for business / first class ...
Probably health and safety for the handlers etc

Id suggest looking into freight as the other users have suggested

It has to be there, the following day. There is too much at stake for a very large project. Even a day late will cause huge problems, so that's why I was asked to bring it with me on the flight. I want to send it UPS, so I guess we will have to.
    Thanks Again.
