Really interested in this myself as an IMAT bound mate of mine is doing it as his first race this year and he is in cracking form in training...

Best of luck Eddie! You will do great. Good idea to get out there in plenty of time to get used of the conditions and the course. Keep us updated during the week.

cheers all. serious spot this (Pollentia Club Resort). Just in from a deadly swim, swimming in a laned outdoor pool rocks! going to test the dreaded climb later and hopefully dip in the ocean which seems seriously nice

Probably early to tell but how are you finding hr/effort in the heat on the running/bike compared to back home? Great idea getting out there a week early and not being stressed with work and other stuff for the build up.

Eddie I assume you got your disc cover, get it fitted yet? Test it yet? Any issues?

Ed comes out of the water in 32.47. Currently in 33rd place for his AG, time to chase them down.

Edit: 6mins down on AG leader which is feck all.

Through 35k in 70mins on the bike (comparison lead pro raleart 61.5min)avg pace first split was 39 and dropped to 24kmph so I assume the climbs are near start of course.

One big climb, 600m afaik. All nice and level from here.

Updates brutal it appears he is actually off the bike and running, last 2 bike splits and overall bike time missing and run splits missing, good news is he moved up to 13th

    Edit: http://ironmanlive.com/tracking.php?race=mallorca70.3&year=2012
    Missing splits is a pain

that doesn't add up, he kicked off at 8.30am Irish time?

Edit: no, that was 7.30 Irish time... which looks correct

thanks ya'll. that was hard! Bloody hot! ITs a tough course. The bike is a challenging one. A lot of climbing and a technical descent which means you dont get the time back. I suffered like a dog on the run, just couldnt get rolling. Way off my target but all times are down this year, they lengthened the route by a bit and it had a massive transition. Ran about 10mins off what i wanted and had hoped for a top 8 AG spot but whats done is done. TIme to learn and improve. Its buffet time!!!! Staying al inclusive at the hotel and i havent been able to take advantage but ill be making up for that now!!
