I am currently employed with a semistate company on a 12 month contract which ends in december. I am not contributing to a pension but PRD is still being deducted from wages. Should this be the case?

I believe you'll get it back when you leave.

Ask you payroll/HR - you may need to apply.

Ya I thought that would be the case too from what I have read, but payroll said that I would be entitled to some of it back but they dont seem too sure of themselves! just throwing it out there to any payroll experts it seems that its a bit of a grey area!

I wasnt aware that semi state employees paid PRD???

However that being the case I dont believe you will get any of it back as although it's termed pension related deduction it is simply a levy and nothing to do with pensions...so Id' be surprised if you got ought back..
