Keep your old kit or sell it on?

I can never decide what to do with my old equipment, right now I've a Taylor Made Tour Burner driver and I candy decide whether I want to sell it or not.

Its in perfect nick and I still hit it a long way and fairly straight. I've only replaced it with a 910d2 which I'm happy with but none the less feel like I should keep the old one but at the same time I want a few extra quid!

What do you guys do?

How much will you get for it now? How much will you get for it in 2 months time? Its always worth holding onto a reliable driver for a while until you're sure of the new one.

Sell it mate, cash on the hip & like women, you will never truly commit to your new one while the old one is hanging around...........

Makes economic sense to sell now and, if you need to, buy it back at a cheaper rate some time in the future.

(that makes sense in my head but reading it back I sound like a twat).

i've sold all my old clubs as soon as they were replaced and i was happy with the replacement.

Well, all apart from the very first set i got!!

Depends really

If the club I've replaced is on its last legs then it goes for a cheap sale. Like my old wedges.

If its a club Im not going to use again I sell them on. My old irons

If its a club I was comfortable with and doesnt have a great sell on value I will keep it. My 2 ball for example. My new putter is ace and im putting better with it. But will keep the 2ball because the trade in price offered was 40 euro.

If its a club that reliable but I've upgraded for technology I will keep it.
My new TM Burner Driver is slicing and going very low trajec. I have two Titleist drivers i know I can hit well , but new technology has surpassed them. Trade in value was low also


I think most of my decisions are based on trade in value or sell on value. If im going to make decentmoney ill shift but if its chump change ill keep.

I used to keep everything as the resale value is generally fairly low on older kit but have now trimmed down to a full spare set in case we have people visiting from abroad.

Putters are definitely worth keeping hold of for those time when your current one just won't behave.

I've just changed and selling/sold all my old gear. What I got is below, and it's not millions but they were good deals for me and the buyers. All had new grips.

Ping G10 Driver, 3 Wood & Hybrid - sold for €170
TM Tour Burner Irons - have an offer of €220
2 x Vokey Wedges - sold for €60

For me, I would sell every time to offset the cost of the new gear. I kept a driver years ago (Ping TiSi 7 degree x flex ProForce) and it is in pristine condition, but 100% worthless to me, or to sell. Should've sold it back then.

Just can't decide what to do, the new titleist driver i love but not 100% with it yet ( only played a couple of rounds with it)

Ill be playing hopefully 72 holes this weekend (through tuesday) and that will give me a great feel for it but at the same time i don't feel like im striking the ball 100% so its hard to judge.

Sell if u are not going to use it again, as another poster said u will be able but the same club back next year if u decide u need it again.
Putters are the exception but even i have trimmed down to 4 from 8 at i stage kept the ones i like the best.
I do a lot of messing around buying second hand stuff and keeping bits and peices but move most of it on again.
Got a good deal on a new TM superfast driver but it is still in the plastic as i got a new shaft for my R11 that i am loving, so it will be going on Adverts next week.

Currently I have a Titleist 910D2 with the Aldila RIP shaft

My old Drivers is the Taylormade Tour Burner with the stock stiff shaft 60g


I also have a Titleist 975D which i keep for the windy days

My old fella pickedup the 910D. He always hit a high ball and never got alot of distance.

Since getting that and setting it up he hits a magically draw every time and is right up with me. Have had a few cracks. Lovely club.

Im going back to my old titelist for a weekend. Its similar to the one you pictured there


And yes..... I have two.. the 9.5 was my favourite

First real putter was a 2ball got on great for a couple of years, then tried 3 different models of Scotties a Yes Putter a Daly Putter and a Oddessy like Luke Dondals now back with the 2ball with a P2 grip getting on very well again.

Handy to have a spare set for guests or work outings. 2nd hand price is so poor, hardly worth sellin.
