It depends on where you sent it out to, but 4/5 days would be average.

I was on the phone to Kildare coco today and the message said they were processing licences from 12 April.

It is much quicker if you drop it in though. I think mine took 2 days last time I dropped it in.

If I remember right in Mayo it took them about 9 weeks in 2010 after I applied for new document as I changed address and wanted them to add categories I was entitled to.
After that long waiting time, I got a letter from them that my form was filled in incorrectly, and they send me this form to correct it. However I didn't fill one field intentionally as there was no right answer for it, and I discussed that issue with person in CoCo when I gave them a filled in form in the first place and he told me to leave it blank.
I got really annoyed then, I went to Coco (about 40km drive) gave them the form and told them I need my licence here and now. She told me waiting times about about few weeks, so I told her that I was going abroad and must have my licence. And that if they can't provide it here and then they would have to give me back my old one which I gave them together with a form. After 15 minutes my new licence was ready. Unfortunaltely they forgot to put additionall categories, and she was trying to make excuse that I was not eligible for them, but I left that issue for another time.

A year later I applie for driving permit for category C, and this time it was way faster (about 2 weeks) but unfortunately they made a major mistake in it, and told me there is no point in correcting it, as it's only for 2 years. I left the office laughing.

I dropped an application into Naas last week and was told about two weeks. When I rang the tax office last Friday (the 27th) they said they were processing applications which were recieved on the 11th, so make of that what you will.

My mother sent in an application for renewal into Naas last Monday and hasnt gotten anything back yet afaik.

I went into the tax office in Limerick with a form filled out, passport photos, form stamped by guards, and got it in ten mins.

took me 15minutes with Offaly CoCo, from handing form over to getting it back, around this time last year.
i just said i needed it the next day to travel up North, and that the PSNI wouldn't accepted the receipt like the an GS would.
