OPEL discrepancies on servicing

    I have a 2007 Corsa D 1.3CDTI 90BHP from new.
    The garage i purchased it in said service it for the firt time at 10,000km so i brought it back to them and the service was done.
    The sticker placed on the window by the garage said the 2nd Service is 20,000km, i enquired about this with the garage and they told me yes, that is correct. I never had a Diesel car before and thought maybe require servicing more often.
    Anyway, the car has been serviced ever 10,000Km up to the current 120,000Km on the clock as per dealership. Also i will note, for the 3 year warrenty period it had to be serviced as per dealership etc to keep the warrenty valid.

    Opel Ireland say service every 30,000Km or once a year (i phoned them)
    3 Opel dealers say service every 20,000KM or once every year
    Vauxhall Northern Ireland say service every 20,000Miles
    the Dealer where i bought the car, say every 10,000KM

    Seems to me, that the main opel dealer that had serviced my car all this time has FU*ked me right over!:mad:

    Any body else had this happen them or have been quoted different service intervals for a Corsa D (2007-current Model)

    Any advice what i can do?

    Seems like a very low service schedule. 10k miles would be the "norm" in saying that, you've got a fine tuned machine..... Also the garage recommended this service interval to you, you're the one that brought it to them 12 times

    yes, I agree, with you, but i did enquire with them and as you know if you dont service as required, your warrenty becomes void from Opel.
    I did service my car at another dealers for the 3rd service, they said service every 12,500km but they where €150 more expensive to service my car.
    So i went back to my normal dealer for servicing as they where the cheapest.

    It sounds very short to me, the interval is 15000km on my car which would be considered short.

    Do you have a corsa (2006 to present model) diesel? They tild you 15k? Just as bad as mine

    The Opel intervals are every 30k OR one year as Opel themselves have said.

    What is your annual mileage?

    The problem that causes confusion with services on modern cars is people still assuming that a 'service' is a generic term for what the garage does every year.

    Different service items are needed at different mileages/years so each service will be different.

    Also, when you consider that these long service intervals are often blamed for many of the problems that modern diesels suffer, especially when most new diesels are not used properly or don't have the correct long life, low ash oil used then the garage could actually be doing you a favour by recommending that you come in more often.

    IMO for most peoples use, 15k should be the minimum for an oil and filter change at least.

    Annaul Km usage would 30,000KM
    I use the car properly, it is never driven around in hight gears at low revs and its looked after well by me.

    In that case I would be having an oil and filter change every 15k/6 months at least and then the normal required service items on a yearly basis.

    I do 60k a year and change my oil every 10k. Thats on an Opel too, albeit a 1.7cdti, not a 1.3.

    Another point, using a main dealer for all those services, rather then a competent independent garage, means nothing other then you pay more.

    No, sorry I wasn't clear. I have a Golf GTI, which has a 15000km service interval and that would be counted as quite short by todays standards, however it is expected due the car being more performance oriented.

    I would expect a 1.3 diesel to have a longer service interval as most modern diesel appear to market themselves as having long intervals.

    If you are planning on keeping the car, the 10k servicing will be of great benefit to your engine IMO. The longer intervals approved by the manufacturers are often regarded as being a bit on the long side and often the reason for these intervals is to make the cars running costs appear better for fleet buyers etc, who will no doubt be dumping the car at 3 years anyway.
    IMO, each year or 10k miles would be sensible.
