the Sky+ HD boxes do have RF modulator and RF2 for the "sky eye", but the SkyHD boxes (only offered as part of Multiroom AFAIK) do not.

I can confirm the new standard SkyHD (not Sky+HD) boxes have no RF Modulator in them.

They're very small (about the same size as the Humax Foxsat HD Freesat box (no RF out on these either) / Portable DVD player). Not sure if they supply these as standard now, or just as part of the multiroom setup only.

Only outputs are SCART & HDMI. There's the usual, USB, ethernet and telephone, and Optical Audio Out connections and another mini-din socket, labeled as I/O port that's for "Future use". The remote control that comes with it is a Sky+ remote with the Play / Pause etc buttons... I'm guessing more cost effective than producing two different types.

Engineer told me there's no RF modulator because Sky don't want people "sharing" a box in a house, and want to force you into multiroom subscription, "1 TV = 1 Box" kinda thing.

You could buy an external RF modulator I guess if you really wanted to use the remote eye?

Sky+HD boxes are used as standard; the SkyHD (non recording) box is just a bare-bones box for Multiroom installs.
