Is there any way of checking this in settings or elsewhere as I don't have the box it came in.

Its an Amstrad DRX890 just a year old and reckon its only 250GB

It's 500GB but Sky only let you have 250GB for personal recordings.

I understand what you mean by sky only let you have half of its full capacity but doesn't this model come in various GB sizes so how can I find out what the full capacity of mine is. e.g. 500GB ITB 1.5TB

Is there no way of checking in settings:(

There is no way of checking yourself but take my word for it, your model only ever came with a 500GB hard drive.

3.5" drive, btw UPC's tv service is inferior to Sky (even their boss admitted it) ,but their broadband is the best in the country atm.

Keep the Skybox connected for fta in case UPC ever goes down due to a fault or whatever.
