    they are great, how long was the shutter speed on those?

    there's a tiny bit of haloing around the mic in the RGB version, which is ever so slightly distracting. apart from that, good stuff.

    A most unusual image and I have to say I like it a lot. I'd love to know what your thinking behind it was and why you did it.

    First up, I actually prefer the colour version to the B&W which is unusual for me. The slow shutter speed coupled with the oddball set up really makes for a surreal image. You have everything right as regards composition and exposure and the placement of the props is spot on. For me the props give me three different feelings. The empty mike gives the feeling of abandonment while the chair and guitar makes me think that the owner is only gone for a break and he'll be back soon. While in the middle, the champers in the ice bucket is there waiting for the guests to arrive and the party to begin.

    I would happily look at large print of this image hanging in any gallery and wouldn't be adverse to hanging one on my own wall at home. Well done.

    First of all, thanks for all the comments! I actually prefer the colour version as well, I was just curios, what a b/w version would look like and a lot of people like the simplicity of b/w.

    Why did I do it? Difficult question:)

    I know, this might sound a bit weird, but ....I had the picture in my head for a long time. You know what I mean?
    I have other ideas for the same setup and I might try them in the coming weeks.

    Oh, and because a lot of people asked me about it, yes the guitar got a bit wet, but its alright;)

    The poor guitar! :eek: Fair play to you for setting this up. Great image.

    It's a great shot. It's very Dream Theater-esque, is that where the inspiration came from?

    Not gone on the B&W version I must admit.

    A nice set up, but would prefer the mike facing more inwards as it leads your eye out of the photo.

    Don't like the processing though. For me it's too dark almost underexposed looking and would be better with a light more punchier effect.

    The very black defining line under the mountains is not very pleasant and the sky is full of overprocessed artifacts.

    @EyeBlinks

    I agree with you that the shot probably is a bit dark. But there are no jpeg artifacts in the sky. I just picked up a very nicely done A3 print of the shot from Davitts in Salthill, and there are definitely no artifacts visible in the print.

    Thanks for your comment though!

    Really like the colour version. However the composition is a little jarring, but maybe that's whats attractive. Do you gave a Gaussian blur/multiply layers thing going on? That dark haloing is a little distractbg ...

    But overall I'd be proud of it ;)

    @Hugh

    It is slightly blurry, you are right about that, but thats because, the chair and the mic stand were constantly moved by wind and waves. And I had the shutter open for 25 seconds or so.

    Overall I like it, there is definitely room for improvement, but I really enjoyed doing it!

    Very interesting shot!

    One thing that bugs me about it is the mic is very close to the edge and is pointing out of the frame. Would have preferred it a bit closer, bit more central and pointing inwards. Completely subjective though, but things pointing or looking out of frame tend to frustrate me! :p

    i think i will swim against the tide and plump for the B&W version - it's got less of a processed feel to it.
