Amsterdam for a month in summer. Tips?

I'm heading to Amsterdam in mid June/July and planning on staying for a month or more. I decided when I found out I could move my Jobseekers Benefit over to anywhere in the EU.

Anybody got any tips for cheap living? Things to do in the Dam during the summer? Have you got Jobseekers in another country before? Is there any work available for short term?

    Any help is most welcome

Is this for real, you can move your JSB to another country?! Might I ask where you heard this? I think it would be extremely difficult to live cheap in another European country. Presumably you would still have rent and maybe other expenses to pay here in Ireland?

You could get a job in a Cafe if you don't mind second hand smoke, you could also probably keep your full JSA if you only worked a day or 2 so you'd be able to enjoy the high life without having to work very hard.

Have to say this is a wonderful little country we have.
