Hi,

I have a few questions relating to my Desktop so think i'll keep everything in one thread cause i cant think of all the questions at the moment :pac:

A while back we had a power surge and it done damage to my desktop. The Ethernet card was damaged(burnt out) Im looking to replace this card but im not very good with the hardware side of computers still a newb . So i was wondering if any of ye could give me some links as to what card i need to replace it with. I was hoping to buy from amazon just for convenience unless i can pick one up cheaper in Ennis or Limerick Region.

The desktop(some of you may know) is a Dell Desktop 8400 32bit Windows 7 Professional(upgraded)

Any help greatly appreciated thanks.

The Desktop is slightly out-dated 7years to be correct ha ha. So im contemplating upgrading the whole lot. Im presuming i can keep the housing. I was thinking of putting i5 into it 64-bit

But now im having second thoughts, would it be worth ripping the good stuff out or be better to just build a new one.

I wouldn't presume anything with dell. Chances it has a non standard motherboard and/or power supply. Will probably have to change everything.

You'll need a new case as well. Only Dell MB's will fit your's.

Thanks. Ya im going to see if i can grab the ones out of the dell now that its ready for the dump . (such a waste) Well just need the HDMI card. Hopefully will buy a tv over the summer. That should cover me. The bigger the screen the better imo

I should explain that today I started it for the first time in like 8 months. and Everything has gone. Everything*(Not 100%) has stopped working(burnt out) orange lights instead of green and just loads of beeping on start up. Which is a total shame but i cant even see whats wrong because the monitor section is not responding thus not picking up any monitor connected
