To my knowledge, and it is a great shame, there is no mechanism to do this. I understand that the unions are to seek a voluntary redeployment scheme such as this in the future.

    Hi,
Anyone teaching primary interested in swapping for a year (maybe more). I am a permanent teacher in Cork city and willing to swap with Dublin or Galway.
    Thanks

remember lads that its a very unknown territory here, teacher A leaves and finds a replacement. However that teacher is now a new entrant and there are probably CIDs etc higher up the ladder. Also if you leave, a VEC for example has to advertise that position. Furthermore, your subjects may be surplus in the school and you may not actually be replaced if you choose to leave. Lastly, all your subjects should match........

I know but not everyone on here seems to be primary......

Also, I would think even in primary there is more to a teacher than their qualifications. A teacher who is a good 'fit' for one school might not be right for another. I'm not in management but if I was, I don't think I'd be comfortable with hiring someone who wanted to "swap" jobs with someone else when I could interview a range of candidates and pick the one I feel is best for the school.

Yes and there is a mechanism for this. Both boards of management can interview the people wanting to swap. I suppose you could argue that the current panel system of redeployment leads to teachers not always being "suited" to their jobs.

You probably could, yes. I wouldn't think that that's a very good argument for justifying job swapping though.

I suppose I wasn't justifying it so much as checking out the possiblilities.
