I went into the AIB today to get a bank draft.

I has the money in my hand only to be told that if I didn't have a bank account to withdraw from I couldn't get one.

    Is that normal?

Are there any other banks I can walk into a get a draft?

That's standard in the banks nowadays, it's basically a measure to prevent money laundering because all drafts need to be traceable. If it's less that €250, AFAIK you should be able to walk into the post office and get a postal order.
