Hey, Ive been driving a 99 Micra, manual for about 2months now and im seriously worried about the miles per galon im getting out of her.

Worked it down to be about 22 mpg, and its costin me an absolute fortune. Im not exactly driving hard or anything.
Any ideas what might be the cause?

    Im no mechanic :p
    Thanks

Have you a petrol cap in place? :)

When was the fuel filter last changed? They are a service item on the Micra's but are rarely changed by most mechanics.

Have seen two probs on these micras

1 Throttle bodies failing which leads to high fuel consumption.
2 less likely but the brake calipers do stick often, know a lad who was getting bad mpg and it was the caliper sticking slightly.
