I have a daewoo lanos with no rear view mirror even though they were factory fitted. Is that an NCT failure?

Any of the following are potental failures in respect of the factory fitted rear-view mirror(s)....
    1. Missing.
    2. Reflecting surface deteriorated or broken so as to impair the driver’s view.
    3. Head or mounting loose.
    4. Mirror not adjustable

and, for an estate or hatchback: 5 Not fitted with an external mirror on each side of the vehicle.

Clearly you will fail on 1. Missing.

Current NCT manual, section 11, page 27.

It's a visual retest, therefore free.

You could buy a cheapo one in the interim:
    http://www.halfords.ie/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_11101_catalogId_15551_productId_158406_langId_-1_categoryId_212357

It sticks on with suction, so you could just unsuction it when your own arrives.
