    hi all,

Does anyone know if the Ross Lake House Hotel in Roscahill, Co. Galway does weddings anymore? I spotted something on t'internet that says they stopped doing weddings, but I dont know what year that was & if that may have changed.....

Location wise it would be ideal for me, I'm also looking at Rosleague Manor but that's a bit too far out from Galway city for my liking.

Any other similar properties within say, max 30 miles of Galway city? So country house/manor style but that could take maybe 100 - 120 guests for the meal?

    Thanks in advance!

Yes, Ross House has stopped doing weddings since about 2010. I enquired last year. There's a castle on the grounds or some other manor house I believe, which you have to take for exclusive use but it only fits about 45 I think. Call them, they'll be able to give you more details.
Rosleague Manor would fit 90 max, so if your numbers are 100-120, they would be too small anyway.
Would you consider Glenlo Abbey? It's the next closest thing to a manor house around the Galway Area. I'm afraid you'd probably have to go a bit out of Galway city to find what you're looking for (I'm assuming a manor house). I looked into Cashel House Hotel as well, which is lovely but again was too small for our numbers.

Thanks Gatica, that is a pity about Ross House - although yes, our numbers would look to be too high anyway.
We may be able to squeeze the numbers down to fit Rosleague - we attended a wedding there a few years back & really enjoyed the whole 'having the place to yourselves' vibe.

Glenlo Abbey is too expensive for us I think, that was one of the first places we looked. Starting at 70 euro per head, just too costly.

Do you mind me asking where you opted for in the finish? I've also looked at the Zetland & at Ballynahinch castle but again, top end of budget unfortunately.

    Cheers

    Hey guys,

I just started looking into venues around connemara. Could either of you let me know how much roughly different venues cost? Ballynahinch or Zetland would be amazing but I'd imagine they're pretty expensive..

    Thanks!

I didnt get to Ballynahinch, but the Zetland was around 65 euro a head. Gorgeous room, interesting gentleman running it. Limited to how many it can seat, think 80 is the max.
Personally I preferred it yo the nearby Cashel House hotel, but everyone has different taste!
Good luck with your search, excitibg time :) [ Quote=dr_funkenstein;79118501]Hey guys,

    Thanks for the quick reply!

Have you settled on a venue yet? This is all totally new to me :) I'm thinking near-ish to Galway would be ideal for me.

We looked at Ballynahinch. It was lovely but really expensive. They require minimum 2 nights booking with all rooms guaranteed by the B&G. Don't remember the per head cost but that 2 night and the room cost put us off.
Their minimum numbers are also enforced. It's a lovely view from there though...
