Have my driving test on Thursday, ordered new motor tax today (it goes out of date tomorrow)

Says the disk will be four working days. Two questions

1: I live in Dublin 18, will it arrive before Thursday?
2: If it doesn't will they even let me take my test, do I bring in the confirmation email?

They stopped me taking the test last time because my insurance disk had the car's uk reg on it, not the irish reg, even though the insurance company said that was ok...

Go to the local Motor Tax office and get it there and then.

Take your email confirmation of payment with you, or a print of the screen or your reference number....

No chance of sitting the test without the actual disk. Ring your local tax office and find out if they'll be able to print it out if you call in. Tell them about the test and bring the confirmation letter for the test with you. They should be able to help.

How was the tester supposed to verify that the insurance disc applied to your car? As far as he was concerned, he would be sitting in an insured car driven by a learner so he was right to refuse the test.

And then you get a date for a new test and leave it until three days beforehand to renew the tax, you sound a bit accident prone - or maybe you're just careless.

If you applied online I'd say the disc will arrive on time though it's peak renewal time in Shannon so you never know. There's no point in bringing any documentation to the local tax office, once you have an online renewal pending I doubt if they'll talk to you.

Accident prone / Careless was a bit harsh? I've never crashed a car or anything. I've never driven uninsured or untaxed. The insurance disk on the car was good enough for the insurance company, and the Gardai. The insurance cert, which I had, lists chassis number.

The timing of this test is quite unfortunate, I was on the cancellations list so I only got the notification a week or two ago. I am right now in the middle of finals in UCD, haven't had much of a chance to think about it.

But anyway thanks for your advice, I'll hope it comes through sometime soon.

When did you pay it, today? It will probably come Wednesday. Always within two days for me, but as mentioned you should have probably just went to the tax office
