5 Series / V70 - Seating position for short person (wife)?

We currently have 2 cars, but due to a change in circumstances we have decided to sell both cars and to get a big(gish) estate to ferry the family around and for our occassional trips to the coninent.

Current frontrunners are either the Volvo V70 or a BMW 5 series estate (08 onwards), and I was wondering if anyone here has experience driving these cars as a small person? My wife is only around 5 ft. (150cm), and is worried that she won't be able to get a decent seting position in either of them. Right now she is driving a scenic, and enjoys the higher seating position.

We have pretty much ruled out any SUVs as an alternative, as the wife will have problems getting the kids in and out, and I won't be seen dead in a people carrier. :o

Best thing is to take a test drive in both and see how she gets on...

5 series and V70 are both excellent estates. However the available engines in the 5 are far superior. Mate has a V70 diesel and I have a 520D Touring. He much prefers mine.

I wouldn't discount a SUV for a short person though. The new XC60 or Audi Q5 could fit the missus perfectly. They are far too expensive though IMHO.
