Dubstep & Oxytocin Levels

We've all heard that Dubstep (if done right) can produce an almost orgasmic effect. I was just wondering if there is an actual link between Dubstep and the oxytocin levels in the brain, does anyone know?

Well, the wobble of the bass helps me get a good rhythm for masturbation and is handy because of the Catholic guilt I suffer from I like to listen to something painful to take the edge off the pleasure but I still always get wanker's remorse, especially if I've been listening to Skrilex. I'm guessing this is due to a drop in oxytocin levels due to my brain knowing on a hormonal level that what I'm listening to is terrible.

I'd say there is a link between Dubstep and levels of Oxycontin in the brain

Before I even start this answer, tell me your understanding of oxytocin and the orgasm reflex. In fact, tell us all about the neurochemistry and endocrinology of orgasm.

The only plausible reason I could see for an increase in oxytocin levels due to 'Dubstep' is if the 'drop' is causing your cervix to become distended. And if your cervix is becoming distended due to loud music, I'd go for an ultrasound because you might just have a cyst or tumour. A tumour that may or may not be diverting blood from your brain. Which is certainly not out of the realm of possibilities given the OP.

    Erm... ouch, bit unnecessary :(

Pulling out old lecture notes from a Reproduction module I had, Oxytocin is the main hormone which causes an orgasm, with Dopamine being higher in males. I was wondering if the frequencies produced by Dubstep had an effect on the Hypothalamus, causing a certain amount of Oxytocin to be released.
I was also referring to the mental effect an orgasm produces, not concerning the cervix. The reason I ask is I've often heard it being called ''Fúckstep'' or some variant (http://8tracks.com/dkdangles/****step) (http://8tracks.com/burchbabexo/filthy-filthy-dubsexxx)(the comments on:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yRYOvT_GUo)

this is a simplification along the same lines as 'listen up ladies, chocolate causes the release of serotonin, which is also released during orgasm, so if you can't have sex, have chocolate' nonsense that trash media print when they try to be all 'sciencey'.

You're grossly simplifying the orgasm reflex (which still baffles modern medicine in a lot of regards), and then jumping to correlate a type of music to a neurotransmitter/hormone that is implicated in many biological phenomena (oxytocin is related to everything from orgasm to child-rearing to lactation to obsessive compulsive disorder).

Not only is there a multitude of neurotransmitters involved in pleasure, but there are even more different receptors and different parts of the brain (of which we have a general idea but essentially not the foggiest notion about). Furthermore, the effect of music on the brain (let alone dubstep) is both varied and poorly understood - read any Oliver Sacks book on music and the brain and you'll see what I mean.

The point is, you are basing everything on a very very very simplified and reductionist conceptual model of neuroscience, endocrinology and psychology and somehow relating it to a ridiculously specific genre of music.

The reason people like me get a bit antsy about it is because every day there's some nonsense printed by the media purporting to be 'scientific' about the benefits of drinking red wine/having sex/eating chocolate, using a frankly retarded idea of how the human brain and body work.

Well, he's obviously never had a **** while drinking a glass of red wine, listening to Skrillex and using chocolate sauce as lubrication - sends your oxytocin levels through the bleedin' roof!

Just an important caveat with the chocolate sauce, it does make you look like you've been bumming if you use it.
