We used Goldfinger [Vincent O'Neill] in 14 St Anne St., Dublin 2 [(01) 6714203] when resizing a ring bought in Boston. It was white gold with an insert of small diamonds. Obviously it had to be replated and I remember being very surprised at the value of it [it was a few years ago]. I found out about it from another thread on boards [can't find it now] and decided to give it a go. Now I only go there when getting batteries etc.

ESL in powerscourt shopping centre are fantastic. You could use them for the insurance valuation too.

This guy made my wedding band and cleaned the wife's engagement ring before the wedding, found him super-helpful and not a rip-off.

My ring was bought in NY. A diamond fell out but i found it I didnt want to leave it in anywhere so I brought it to applebys as they are a reputable jewellers but they wouldnt look at it because it wasnt bought there. I ended up in a little place in powerscourt sc. It could be the one mentioned above. Not sure of the name. Its on the first floor in the corner. They were so nice put the diamond back in right then and there and only charged me €10!! You can see everything they do. I would definitely recommend them. I would go back to them in a flash. They make some fab jewelry too!
