thought it'd be a good idea to compare longest headshots, there have been some ridiculous ones. mine was 1110m on gulf of Oman. from the building with the swimming pool and ladder to the US Aircraft carrier. it was on the 360. delighted! over to you

1165m on Gulf, similar situation but I sniped the guy out of the chopper. I never play as a sniper, haven't even got a service star for it, but I was pretty happy with that.

Blazer (1328m) and AnCapaill (1285m) and have ridiculous ones, cause they were testing it on one of the maps.
Awesome (1630m) , dunno how ye can even make things out at that distance :P

In fairness, a lot of players stay on the carrier, themselves sniping - which equals fair game IMHO.

They are just as bad imo, but I will still not resort to killing people in their bases.
Also, weren't they going to bring something in to stop damage being dealt from within the uncap ?

might have been 4k but that could have got wiped when they removed all the hacker stats

Ah yes, that was it. My memory isn't the best since you gave me that concussion with the P90.

If your gonna play recon give the M40 a shot, really good for aggressive recon types.

Only 291m myself, mainly as on the large maps I'll be in some vehicle.

Have seen some of the lads on the CI server get me at stupid distances so I'll believe the shots that Blazer, AnCapaill, and Awesome got, but others I'm sceptical of, esp because of the MAV headshot youtube videos that went around a while back.

Is it any good? Using the M98B for sniping atm, mainly as that was what I was being killed with :pac: and have found it kills people better than the L96.

same here. i have around 100 hours as recon out of 240 hours played. my spm is 294, could be more if I had stuck my trusty m16 and not gone whoring headshots. longest i got is 1061 with the sv98 on op firestorm.

anyone else feel no difference between the sniper rifles. they all have the same power, range and accuracy to my mind. they feel like the same gun with different designs and reload times.

Should avoid firing into their spawn. Unless they started firing out before you started firing in, it's a despicable thing to do.

Bullet Drop on SV98 is massive , Anything over 1k when using the 12x scope your gone below the bottom line , then it becomes an art form , straight bolt allows you to pretty much judge the second shot perfectly.

and if you have left a suppressor equipped its going to be even worse

I only use sniper for a laugh, the L96 w/3.4 scope, and run around pretending it's Mohaa (the old Kar98 bolt action)

For long range sniping the M98B is a beast. With a 12x scope each bar below the cross hair roughly works out at 600m, so if you were aiming at a target about 900 meters away, that's halfway between first and second bars roughly. Before firing it's always best to compare the target's position to the flag nearest him, so you start with a ballpark estimate of how far away he is, then it's just minor adjustments.

Also, the bipod becomes essential as if you see a hitmarker you can chamber and refire to the same spot for a non-headshot kill with ease. It may not be as clean as a headshot, but there's something about two the centre mass that makes your victim more likely to try for the revenge kill and you can headshot him next time.

Compared to that gun, the M40 feels like it has twice the drop, and I've never been able to gauge the SV98 reliably. However, for hit and move play the M40 has a fast action with a straight pull, and is excellent for follow up shots.

I'm a poor sniper, but when I get frustrated playing with randoms on console I have been known to drop out of a squad and just find a snipe-only game on Firestorm. My longest is 1345m, but I fondly recall my favourite - I was struggling to gauge distance from the back left corner of OpFire to the hill outside RU spawn. On console that's the limit of the mesh, so spotted targets rarely have icons over them - and I rely on those orange triangles for lining up the head, and adjusting follow-up shots. Basically, anything I was going to hit would be one part luck, one part learning experience. I hit two guys in the head with one bullet at 1326m and 1325m. Must have spawned on each other at the wrong time.

Playing tdm running around with the magnum, guy about 75ish metres turns around a corner and boom 1 shot headshot with it, sweet

Longest is only 580 with sv98, i rather go around with an acog or 3.4 scope for some cq sniping, Never got into the whole sitting back for long periods buth each to there own.

Was running around RU air base when I was pinged by a Carrier sniper, its great that they dont move thinking that they can just sit there all day and miss people.
