Can't get work at all

    Hi, guys.

My life seems to have taken a complete nose dive in the last while. lost my job, friends, and Im struggling to keep my head up and smile everyday.

I completed college in the last two years, got a really good degree. But I wont be be qualified in what I want to do until I do a postgrad which I was currently working for to save money for.

I lost my job due to cutbacks. My job was in retail, as they are only really the jobs I can do that dont require massive qualifications or experience.
My heart is broken. I rarely meet up with a lot of friends not due to fall outs, but due to money. I cant afford to visit, my best friends are all way down the country due to where I went to college. so that really gets me down.

Ive searched everywhere for jobs, applied, sent out cv's, used contacts. To no avail have I got anything. I have work experience behind me, but its kind of part time due to my study commitments.
People have suggested internships, but I need an income. Im 22 years old. I cant afford to work for nothing for a year, Ive bills to pay and to live and save to get back to college. its getting me down so much. I feel a failure, I worked so hard in college to get my degree and worked hard in my past jobs, and Ive nothing to show for it. Im dirt poor as well, I can barely afford bills and Ive just paid my parents back money they lent recently. I hate borrowing of people, especially them, as they raised me and my siblings up and deserve these years to do what they want. so Ive paid that back now. I need to save every week to get back to college and do my postgrad, but thats not even an option now. I feel so heartbroken. I need a job desperately. anything, shops, ect. just to support myself. I dont think Ive ever felt this low in my life. thanks for listening.

have you applied for social welfare, if not then do it, its better than nothing

also apply for intern-ships and if you get one do it while on the dole, but be applying for jobs also and if you get one great you can work evening if you dont so what you have the dole and an intern-ship

    all is not lost OP

as for friends why dont you join a book club, sports club, volunteer in something local, none cost money yet new friends can be found also why dont your "friends" come visit you

I hope you are not avoiding the dole out of shame!
The government owe you alot from your bonds worth alone as a citizen of Ireland. That pps number is registered with them for a reason. We are commodities after all and its their job to look after us in some circumstances.
You obviously have been working on top of that.
If your already on the dole and your rent is not too high, you could be due rent allowance on top, to support you while you figure out your next move.

Work is quite hard to get these days, its understandable you are stressed.
It can be a shock to the system and change can be scary when you can't picture the future so well.

OH! if just remembered...did you claim your tax back?
Its a long time since ive done that, but you used to be able to go into the tax office and fill in a form or two which allows them to check your tax records and refund you anything owed.

You would be suprised what can build up especially if your job stopped before the end of a working year.
Just a thought incase you hadnt.A chance you could get a few quid.
Citizens advice would probably know better than me,so a good place for you to visit anyway for info when unemployed or asking about tax.
Its free advice too!Can walk in and sit down and chat to someone sometimes.

If you paid USC, you can claim that back too! Every little helps...

I hope you find something soon. :)
