Hi, my shoulder has been paining me a lot in the gym the last few weeks. I went for physical therapy this morning and the therapist told me that my Acromioclavicular joint is torn or at least damaged.

Has anyone else experienced this... i have been advised to stay out of the gym for at least 2 weeks, however i am going to allow myself to go on a bike machine along with situps every evening... would love to hear anyone else's experiences with the above, thanks in advance...

When you say the joint was "torn" did they indicate was it a cartilage/ligament/capsule issue?

If you are going to use a bike, use the recumbent one so you are not leaning forwards and putting weight through your shoulder.

Tore a ligament in my ac joint a few years back. Long recovery.

You were told stay out of the gym. Why pay money for a professional to advise you only to disregard his advice??

You need to find what exactly is wrong and the ask whats the best plan of action to rehab it.

Thanks for your replies... i asked the PT if i could do any exercise after he told me to stay out of the gym. He said the bike would be fine and as you suggested 'calfmuscle', i will be sitting back in the recumbent one
