recommend luggage carrier for an old roadbike

My commute to work is 23km each way.
I do the trip on a 20 year old reynolds 501 bike which is perfect for the trip.

I cycle with a laptop bag on my back, and in the laptop bag I carry a towel. and some working clothes, and also lights and a pump etc. Lets say I'm carrying 7kg on my back

When I get to work, my t-shirt at the back is saturated with sweat because of the laptop bag. It's a bit uncomfortable too, takes an hour each way going at a relaxed pace. I take a shower at work,

I've been doing this trip since February, and the laptop bag is beginning to annoy me a bit.

Can anyone recommend a luggage carrier/rack and pannier for a roadbike ? I never used a luggage carrier before, I know nothing about the different types. Luckily there are eyelets on the chainstays. Looks like itll take a rack.

I plan to stop using the laptop bag when I get a carrier/pannier. This will make my trip much more enjoyable, although I do enjoy it very much already.

I gave up after one week with a backpack. I couldn't stick it. On a similar bike and similar distances too.

I would imagine any luggage rack designed for a pannier would work. As for what type of pannier? You could spend anything between 30-150 on panniers. All will ultimately do the same job, some better then others.

I think Aldi have bike luggage in their cycling section which is starting very soon.
I would be putting the laptop into a waterproof bag though....(I'm sure you already do that :-) )
