Chronic heater core problems (K12 Micra)

    Almost at the end of my tether with this one.

    5-6 years of trouble free driving then a busrt radiator caused all sorts of problems - including eventually blown head gasket. Heater core went too.

    Gasket/cylinder head damage was extensive, got a good deal on recon replacement engine so went for it (much less mileage).

    All good general engine wise HOWEVER...

    The fourth heater core has just gone (in last 6 months) and driving me up the walls. It's an aftermarket job, not Nissan core by the way. Mechanic can't find a problem with the car otherwise but something has to be causing these leaks.

    Pressure, coolant level, hose/pipes, thermostat all fine.

    Core has now been bypassed but as heater will be needed come October or so, just a tempoary fix.

    Any ideas?

    what do you mean by gone ???
    if its leaking , are you putting deionised water in for coolant?

    vaguely remember something about cracking pipes on nissans, cant do any better, sorry!

    Thanks - yes, leaking. Adding premixed coolant so should be OK in that respect.

    When you say pipes what do you mean exactly - which pipes? the ones feeding into the heater core?
