Sorry for the all title caps but i just had to display my excitement for a 5th season especially after Letters of Transit.

Now heres the bad news its only gonna be 13 episodes so they can get to 100 for syndication purposes..... but still MORE FRINGE!!!!!!

More Fringe is good news even if it's just a little Fringe.

13 episodes could be a good thing. This should mean that there are few filler/MOTW episodes and instead they have a firm narrative from start to finish.

Excellent - they can wrap it up properly now and not leave outstanding plot lines (which last week's episode would have threatened).
It's like "Chuck" all over again - a show that kept getting threatened with cancellation makes it to a short final season to wrap up.

    G'wan, Fringe. :)

J.H. Wyman confirmed the news on Twitter, saying:

OFFICIALLY PICKED UP FOR 13 EPISODES! Our team thanks FOX/WB and our INCREDIBLE fans for their support. JHW/JP/AG

He also confirmed that Season 5 would (as expected) be the sci-fi serial’s final season by posting a link to the following teaser:

Best news ever :). IMO, it's the best case scenario to announce a final season this far in advance - the writers have no excuse for not wrapping things up properly now. 13 episodes should make it a lot more focused throughout the season too.

Finally... I can sit down and catch up. I'm half a season behind but flagging ratings all season have made me sit and wait for certain renewal before getting invested in the show again!

Indeed.. I'm hoping these 13 episode final seasons become the norm.

Gives the creators who invested so much time, writing and work into a series to wrap it up cleanly as they see fit.

So, the name of the first episode of season 5 is
    Transilience Thought Unifier Model-11.

Also, Jeff Pinker, the showrunner, has left the series. I don't pay much attention to the whomever writes particular episodes, but that's a bit of a surprise.

Also, apparently most of Season 5 will take place in 2036 (hurrah!) with stories from the present day told in a found footage fashion.

Should be good. Looking forward to this.

I wonder why Pinkner left (spelt his name wrong earlier). Maybe himself and Wyman disagreed on what direction to take or else he simply has a new project he wants to get on with.

I've read some sketchy reaction on the Fringe fanbase. Namely that J.H. Wyman is too influenced by what people say to him on twitter, but as soon as that was said, another person smacked it down quite quickly.

Whether there'll be a tonal shift because of the change or because of plot threads...who knows.

    Apparently, the finale is called
'Enemies Of Fate', though some are reporting it as 'An Enemy of Fate'

Cast interviews, etc floating around re the finale even though it doesn't air until the 18th. I'd say be careful with your browsing habits if you want to avoid even small bits of info.
