Tenant on social moved out!

My tenant moved out into a friends house.... he is on the dole but the social are still paying the rent to me... do i write to social and advise them or does this get the ex-tenant cut off their payment? I don't want to get them in trouble (and I get backlash)...surely its up to them to advise social and stop payment?

You'd think so, but at the end of the day if you receive rent and they're not living there there could be some consequences to that.
