    Re: the background to this case & leaving all party political baggage aside (genuinely), I think it is quite important that people recognize that issues relating to planning corruption were not a Fianna Fail phenomenon. If we dismiss such corruption as having been a Fianna Fail problem over the past 20, perhaps 30 years, we dismiss the problem to irrelevance and fail to correct the planning process in the future, as per the Mahon recommendations.

    As for this case itself, there are now five charges against Cosgrave; they should proceed and he should be given a fair trial, I don't think there is anything more to be said on that matter yet.
