Help cant open fuel cap !

    I cant figure out how to open the fuel cap on 02 ford fiesta. The key is turning but cant get it off, help im nearly empty:D

    anyone... :( the key will turn fine but the cap itself seems stuck ?

    Turn the key and then twist the cap itself by hand. They can get quick stick so may take a bit of force.

    As above. As the fuel tank empties it creates a sort of vacuum. Once you have the key turned, give the cap a good turn, you'll probably hear a hiss of air.

    When you put the cap back on, it will probably seem a little loose, even with the key locking it, but again as the fuel is used it pulls tighter

    But the key only opens the flap, not the fuel cap itself which unscrews and has a rubber attached to a hole on the side.You twist the key to the right and pull on the flap.Its probably just a bit stuck. I assume that's the way yours is OP?

    Apologies, I thought the mk5 would be the same as the mk4, with a key hole in the actual cap. Everything else probably still stands though, I'd imagine, so give it a good turn with both hands.

    I always find with mine, the less fuel in the tank, the harder ity is to open

    Thanks for replies i got it open this morning the petrol station i went to fill up the car for you so i just handed the keys to him and said nothing and he opened it with no problems :rolleyes: it must have been the vacuum behind the cap i guess
