Is it for a Police Certificate of Character or Garda Vetting

There is a big difference! My brother was waiting five weeks for vetting and eventually they told us they had lost the application but for the purposes of a Working visa a Police Certificate would suffice. We got the Police cert done overnight in the local station!

6 weeks? that is crazy, I need it before the council will put me on the housing list, so it is to check for anti-social behaviour etc....I cant wait six weeks!!

6 weeks is nothing I'm waiting nearly 6 months for my Gardai vetting form to come back:mad: And the org who sent in my application late last year have been informed that my application has gone for future checks.

I'm still waiting - been so long now it looks like they will take us up for medicals without it.

Well i have 2 Garda Clearance outstanding. one from June 2011 and one from November 2011. i cant get any answers as to what the delay is other than ''your application is waiting to be processed''. I actually need one for a course i am doing in the next 2 weeks.

Both times i sent in Garda Clearance was apart of a course i was doing (2 separate courses) and everybody on both courses have got theirs.

I have recently asked a TD to help with it and am waiting for a reply. I done some research and from what i can find, the longest anybody has had to wait was 22 weeks but next month i will be waiting 1 year and it is absolutely ridiculous. I cant even get an explanation regarding it.

Anybody got any ideas on how i can go about getting it sorted

    Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone can clarify if I need Garda vetting or a police certificate?

I've been offered a job in NI, subject to a NI police check, they have to contact the Garda unit to do this, so basically they are just passing my documents to them.

My employer said that this can take about 5 weeks, but from reading posts on here, I'm afraid it will take longer. Has anyone ever had this experience?

    Thanks

Your local Garda Station might assist you here with a cover note.
