Anyone know what the craic is with Irish-Lifting ?
I looked to get a piece of equipment of them back Jan/Feb and every week I've been told its due in the end of the month, or its due the following week.

    Are they in difficulties ?

Has anyone else had any problems with them recently ?

Ordered 10kg plates off them last monday received them yesterday, delivery has been longer then normal over the last few months... that and I got bodymax plates not the usual Irish Lifting plates they normally sell and advertise on there website, not that theres too much difference although it would have been nice to know this before ordering...

they're a joke to deal with. I ordered 540 quid worth of gear off them 7 weeks ago and All I got was the run around. no communication and Ive been extremely patient

Any update on these lads of late? Used them when Mickk owned it,always a pleasure to deal with.Looking to get some equipment in the not too distant future, but anything i've heard about the new owners wouldn't fill me with confidence at all.Was it just a case of a few teething problems or,going on what i've heard, are they intent on running a perfectly good buisness into the ground? Any info on recent dealings with em greatly appreciated.

I wanted a power cage, I was told they didnt have one in stock but it was coming in a delivery at the end of the week. I rang back every week for about 6 weeks and got the same story.
I gave up and ordered from England last Monday, had my cage on Friday.

Same story with me. 8 weeks of messing after ordering AND paying for barbell and 200kg of weights. Constant follow up calls e mails etc the whole time with different answers each time. I asked for a refund which Im waiting on. Once it comes through ill be buying from the UK too. Sad as they were cool to deal with and id rather give my money to Irish lads...

you're lucky... they actually had your dumbells in stock so. if they don't have stuff in stock it takes 8 weeks apparently....

Cheers lads.In two minds now as to whether to go with them or not.Even if it's a case of waiting a few weeks, would always prefer to be told up front instead of ringing back every week to be told the same thing,or worse again no one answering the phone, don't understand that approach at all.

As was said would much prefer to spend the few bob here aswell, but gonna have to look across the way,see what they have to offer.Who are the main men in the UK? Any recommendations?

Personally haven't had any problems with Irish Lifting before or after the change of hands but I cannot even get onto the website now.
Keep getting a malware warning from Google.

    Hi Guys,
Sorry to hijack thread a bit!
Thinking of getting something like the below:

    http://www.powerhouse-fitness.co.uk/bodymax-olympic-rubber-radial-barbell-kit-145kg.php

Would this place and Irish Lifting be the two best places / only places?

Also, any recommendations on type of bar and weights - i.e. I was thinking of olympic bar as opposed to standard, is this a better option? Also, was thinking the rubber plates are better than metal for the house! Budget is €300 roughly for it. Any ideas would be great, as don't want to spend that money and then kick myself for getting the wrong bar etc!!

    Thanks
    Simon

I get the following when I try to access their site:
    Forbidden
You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Did they go out of business? I was looking to get a chinup bar from their site last week, but this week their site has been down like that...

I don't like badmouthing these guys as they seem to have good equipment and were very good to deal with when I met them. However I am seriously considering ordering from the UK after waiting 3 months for a container that's been en-route/in customs/ or due in tomorrow.

If they are going out of business it would be a shame as they're aren't that many good suppliers of equipment around.

You're waiting 3 months, getting the run around and STILL willing to risk it?!

They haven't and won't be getting any money off me up front.
I was a bit naive in the beginning and assumed what I was being told was genuine, when they started to repeat the excuses I figured something was wrong.
At the moment I'm just trying to see what they actually have in stock in their showroom so I can buy and collect, I'll get the rest elsewhere.

just be careful. As I've said, I got the runaround for 8 weeks. now I'm waiting on a refund for 2 weeks. they said their site got hacked and so on. if you have to use them, call beforehand. Don't just buy like I did.

Thanks for that. Main thing is that they're a trustworthy bunch to deal with, which they seem to be. Looking at the bodymax F430 from them, seems like a solid rack for the price.

blakelift did this get sorted out. I have had an order in since the 22nd Jan. Last week I decided that I had enough of container stories etc. Asked for a refund. Now I am getting no replies at all.

I didn't mind before now because I'd had mainly good experiences with Irish Lifting in the past and have spent a lot of money there.

Wish I had seen this thread sooner.

I just did a Google search for Irish Lifting and clicked on the the link from there.

It worked. I was even able to log into my account. Something that I was unable to do for a while.

Did you pay by credit card?
Ring up your provider and tell them you have not received the goods you ordered in January.

I used PayPal. But yes, the money came from a credit card.

    I used PayPal.

If memory serves me right you have to open a dispute with Paypal within 45 days of payment :(

Go to the Small Claims Court or contact the NCA for advice.

Yes, I seen that on PayPal. I have been looking into the small claims court. I have even told them that I am willing to go to the small claims court. But still no refund.

I let it go on so long because I thought that I was dealing with the old Mick. There were sometimes delays with him but he always got on top of things.

But then I got a second container story. Which was weird.

Haven't put in an order yet though.

    I'll try again later.

Irish Lifting are the most frustrating company I have ever bought from. I've rang them at least a dozen times over the past month about an order, can't understand why they don't just tell me up front when they realistically expect it. To be fair to them they are polite to speak to etc and do seem like decent guys but they're wasting customer's time and their own time with these runaround tactics, whatever the reason for them is. My patience is running out and I just don't buy it, surely they have some method for tracking the stock they're due to receive from their own suppliers? They must know what is contained in each shipment en route from their suppliers and when each customer's order is due to arrive? Or is it just sheer organisational incompetence? One thing's for sure, it's downright insulting and patronising to be constantly fobbed off, I'll never buy from them again.

So curiosity is blind, thanks, didn't know that. I mistakingly thought that people generally have a reason for asking things and often, when a query seems not directly relevant, those being asked will respond in kind, out of curiosity

Ended up using these guys for a few bits and pieces. Not gonna go into the ins and outs of it all.Unbelievable experience as regards costomer relations and general communication, worst I've ever dealt with, woeful. How they deal (or don't deal) with people is beyond poor. Would give the impression that they don't give a toss one way or the other.Takes all sorts I suppose. On the plus side I'm more than happy with the equipment itself, given the price range etc.Pity about the rest, don't know where the lads are coming from to be honest, not thinking long term at all/don't care!

Not 100% sure what the story is now,but I'm pretty sure you could in the past, and I'd advise doing that.It used to be 9 or maybe 10am to 5.

Careful you don't end up arriving there to find the place closed, one lad on holiday and the other down the country as happened to me.
This happened even though i had rang the day before to check opening times.

I'd recommend going with a vehicle suitable to bring whatever you're looking for rather than ordering off them there and getting it delivered

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,286 ✭✭✭✭mdwexford

It already happened to me last week.

Just rang them about a 140kg coloured rubber olympic set and they said its not in stock and might be in in about a month. The woman on the phone didnt sound too bothered so they can stick it.

Anyone know anywhere else in Dublin i could get one for around the same price?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,286 ✭✭✭✭mdwexford

Just got off the phone to myhomefitness.ie and the guy was infinitely more helpful and they have everything in stock so I can drop in Thursday and see it in person.

This maybe slightly OT but I am looking to order a bench rack and set of weights for my home gym. I was hoping to order off irishlifting but all the feedback on here is making me have second thoughts. Would I be better off to just go with one of the package deals from powerhouse-fitness??

    Something like

    or
    http://www.powerhouse-fitness.co.uk/deluxe-strength-package.php
