Windscreen washer broken & need fixed ASAP (Sandyford/Goatstown/Dundrum area)

    Hi all,

The front windscreen washer on my 01 peugeot 206 has stopped working. I had the NCT just over two weeks ago and it was working fine prior to that, or so I think, as I assume I would have failed on that otherwise!

The wipers still work, the rear wiper and washer are still working and I topped up with water anyway just in case. I had a look under the bonnet and turned on the washer, and in my very limited knowledge after reading online here and a few other places, it didn't seem to be the pump (I assumed it wouldn't anyway as then surely the rear washer wouldn't work either). It looked to me like the water isn't coming up through the tubes at all, but I couldn't manage to locate where the tubes were on the windscreen washer tank to check if they were loose or blocked or anything.

So since I can't do it myself and I have my driving test on Monday (everything seems to go wrong with this car days before my test), I am just wondering if anyone knows how much this is likely to cost to get sorted (assuming it is just blocked or loose, or worst scenario if it sounds to anyone like there could possibly be something else wrong) and also if anyone knows of a good reliable car service place in Sandyford Ind Estate as I work up there or Dundrum/Goatstown/Stillorgan area that I could head to to take a look at it.

Any help, advice, etc, hugely appreciated! :)

    Thanks!
    gemi

When you press the washer for the front winscreen do you hear the pump? If you can hear the pump it's likely that either the washer jets themselves are blocked and you may be able to use a needle to unblock, otherwise could be the hose going to the jets has disconnected most likely at the bonnet where it connects to the jets.

I thought the pump was working, but double checked this evening and compared to the sound when the rear washer is on there is no sound. So guessing that must be the issue, will get it looked at. Thanks!

Sorry for the off topic but are you actually on that great big fish magnet of a ship?

Fixed now! Turns out it was just blocked tubes....and that I am clearly going deaf since I couldn't hear the pump last night.

Thanks everyone for all you help!
