Buying from UK website

    Hi. I wanted to buy an item off a UK based website/company. However, no option to deliver to Ireland. I mailed them and enquired and they came back with this;

    We don’t supply through our website but we should be able to deliver to you via a direct order. If you can confirm what you require, and your full address we will email you with the full amount including delivery and if you wish to go ahead we will just need your credit card details and we can process it through Paypal manually.

    I have paypal - so I guess I could propose to pay in that way. If I do as they describe above, do I have full protection via visa?

    I dont understand why they need your credit card details to process a paypal transaction.... One reason for using paypal is so that the seller doesn't get your credit card details.

    Unless I'm missing something, this sounds a bit dodgy.
    Can companies use credit card details with paypal?

    I wondered the same thing myself. I guess I will ask them to send on a paypal invoice - and see what they say to that.

    Maybe wait to see if anyone else on here has some knowledge about this.
    Is the company a reputable business or a random small one?

    They have no need for your credit card details. Avoid them.

    Absolutely, it's not a definite indicator of a dodgy site either, just an amateurish one.

    The OP should provide a link to the site in question so that it can be checked out.
