NCT fail - Galway

My car failed it's NCT today due to steering linkage, the track rod ends and the inner tie end are worn and need replacing.
Can anyone recommend somewhere I could get this done in Galway? Preferably for as cheap as possible, but I want to make sure it'll pass next time!
    Thanks!

There is a thread here with many suggestions
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055431583
All the garages would be able to fix those items you mentioned, ring 3 or 4 and get quotes.

As a tip - you could do these things yourself on the cheap but then you need to be a bit handy and get the parts off ebay etc and have tools.

Thanks, are there any of those you'd particularly recommend? Don't think I'd be able to fix it myself!!

Also does anyone have any idea how much is should cost? The renault garage said 500, should it be this much?

100 EURO all in or less if you are able to do yourself . You will have to get the steering aligned after replacing track rod ends . unless you mark were you screw of old t/r ends & take a chance it is spot on.

It could be but do try ringing 3-4 garages and get quotes.
    What car/year is this?
    Try Kilduff garage Nuns Island.

Go down to the lads in partway motor factors on the tuam road. ann is great to deal with. They will sort you out with the bits you need. Ring garages for quotes before hand and find out how much it would cost to the job if you have the parts and how much if they supply parts.

Just a warning though, many garages won't work with customer supplied parts, in case there is some issue later.
Ask around first and read that thread I mentioned, I think there's some guys there that will do it as a nixer and they usually don't mind customer supplied parts.

I've been using the Galway Car Service centre the past few years for two cars the family have. Good to deal with, honest and I feel, very reasonable.
Always on the button with their quotations and indeed time estimations.
Based across from the NCT centre in Doughiska.

I guess it depends on the garage... I supplied my own parts for a full service with a vw dealer recently and there was no problem.. Then again a certain vw garage in co Galway wanted more money for the job if I supplied the parts than if they supplied them.. Couldn't understand that business model but sure when you keep your cars piled in a field who knows.. Moral of the story find out how much the parts will cost and get on the phone... If you don't ask you don't get..

The business model is probably down to comeback if there is a problem after the work has been done.

We are talking vw/Audi approved oil, and Mann filters. My point is that particular garage does some strange things at times. Anyway totally off topic here.
