    Hi Seres,
I've no advice I'm afraid but hope all goes ok with the injection and that you get some relief.
Looking forward to seeing you back out on the streets:)

Hi there. This is a very common question for Day Surgery Centers and X-Ray Departments (and often a common difficulty for patients).

Lifts are required for 2 reasons
    - Impairment of consciousness, for example post General Anaesthesia and/or
    - Impairment of mobility post procedure, for example leg numbness and weakness

In your case, it's 'in case' of the second one.

They wanna get you home safely.

Having said that, the reality is that lots of patients don't have lifts post Sciatic Nerve Blocks, Epidural Steroid Injections, Facet Joint Injections etc.
You can hang out there for a bit with a book, see how you are, have a contingency plan for a lift later on, part taxi maybe........
It's not safe for patients, of the general public, that they drive (I know that wasn't your question).

PS You should be absolutely fine!

I had a cortisone injection in my hip joint last December in SCC and I had to have someone to collect me before I was let out! I thought I would be fine too but it wasn't the case - my leg was going from under me at times and had a funny sensation going on too! Was perfectly fine the next day but that evening of the injection I certainly wouldn't have been able to get to a bus stop and travel home on a bus! Hope this helps answer your question!

    Hi Seres,

What symptoms have you been getting with the nerve? the reason I ask is I have been getting a numbness and pain in my thigh and buttock lately after about a mile or 2 of running and it gets so bad I can't continue. wondering if this might be the problem?

    mike.

Talk to a doctor, or a physio, or a physical therapist.

Got an injection in the achilles a few weeks back, I was ok to drive as i have an automatic and it was my left achilles. Saying that I dont think i would have been happy to drive a manual. It probably costing you a small fortune so my advice would be get a taxi. Its a bit of a walk to the bus I know its not your achilles but there is a general 'uneasy protectiveness' with local anasethetic. BTW, its a great place to hang out if you need a rest afterwards.

stop running and see your doctor, i did serious DISC damage running through the same symptoms.
