Um...it might be beneficial to get exactly what the error message said.

But by seeing something like this before it could be the following:

    The message:

There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.

Any idea's for this in particular???

Looks like the installer is corrupt / for a different version of Windows.

Try to download it again and make sure it's for the correct operating system and check if it's 64bit or 32bit.

edit: I downloaded it from Apply website for Windows 7 x64 a few days ago and had no trouble.

I've tried all of those options... I'm beginning to think I should download Windows Installer from scratch....??? Is this a good idea???

Yeah, delete the installer you have and go to the apple website and download it again. Remember to double check operating system etc when downloading it.

I'm actually on Wondows Vista, 32 bit, Service Pack 2... I've everything up to date so I don't know why it wont download.. I would have thought iTunes is a fairly basic program to run like any media player...?? I'll try down loading a new windows installer..

Far from it, one of the most bloated media players out there, why it takes minutes to install a simple media player on a high spec machine I don't know... Use the following FixIT tool here to fix Windows Installer corruption issues, it may help. Afaik Vista ships with the latest version of windows Installer, especially if the OS is patched and up to date

SharePOD can add music to an ipod, its also much less bloated. Could you take a screenshot of the exact error message?

Use Floola or CopyTrans Manager instead, your computer will be grateful for being spared from Apple's cr*pware. ;)

Just to add to torqays suggestion, see this Apple KB article here, do a full uninstall of all Apple components and see how it goes (I find it quite interesting 6 in total are actually needed to run Itunes)

I completed this two or three times, they had to be uninstalled in a particular order. Eventually iTunes downloaded perfectly!!!

Cheers for all of your help!!:)
