Is anyone having an issue with your email account when logging into hotmail?

I can log in fine but the layout is all over the place and I can't open emails or send any.

What web browser? Make sure to clear all the temporary files/cache and try again

My post is not rubbish, especially as I can access my hotmail emails with no issues at present :pac: , so its either likely to be a internet provider issue, caching issue or browser issue. I use Firefox fwiw. What provider are you both with?

Both Mozilla & IE, cleared all files/cache.

My brother is getting the same issue.

Though just checked emails on phone and no problem accessing them there, so its off the computer the issue.

    Internet provider is Eircom

Definitely no problems here on UPC, try changing your DNS settings to Google's Public DNS ones and see if it helps, if not it could well be an Eircom routing issue or something similar, it may also be isolated to certain accounts but I doubt that

Having hotmail issues on all 20 PCs here at work. Computers were wiped last week and it still didn't sort the issue. I think there's script errors in the page from time to time that causes unresponsiveness in the page.

Who provides your internet in work? I've looked on Twitter and don't see many people having hotmail problems on it either, I'm guessing its an isolated ISP problem as I just sent a test message there from hotmail to my gmail, all ok, mail arived instantly

    Eircom Business 20mb :o

    Eircom Business 20mb :o

If others having issues use eircom this may be an issue between Eircom and some Microsoft web servers, no harm in letting the Eircom folk on the Eircom Talk to forum know about it. If they are made aware they can investigate it :)

I had already contacted Eircom's Twitter support but they had no idea. They just told me to check to see if my browser was up to date

All over the place for me on the iPhone. My provider is 3.

For those on Eircom try the following:
Open the Windows command prompt (or Unix terminal) and type:
ping css.wlxrs.com and see what happens, this seems to be the server to which Microsoft host the stylesheets

Thank God! I thought it was just me having this issue-I've been at the laptop for the last hour trying to work out what I'd done wrong.
My Hotmail and MSN pages are all text only and I can't access my emails either, so annoying.
I am glad it's not just me though!

Same problem here, the whole layout of hotmail has changed (it is all over the place) and I can't open any folders, inbox, junk, deleted items etc. However it works perfectly on my windows phone, nokia lumia

Could anyone on eircom try pinging the above address, does it work?

    Thank you very much.

It's not that address, it's these ones:
    http://gfx1.hotmail.com/
    http://gfx2.hotmail.com/
    http://gfx3.hotmail.com/
    http://gfx4.hotmail.com/

Can you access this CSS file: http://gfx4.hotmail.com/mail/16.2.5070.0417/styles/Base/Full/InboxAll.css? It's showing as up on http://isup.me, but I can't access it on Eircom or UPC. Ping is giving me "Ping request could not find host gfx2.hotmail.com"

Any updates on how to fix this? Been gone all day for me and I'm pulling my hair out in frustration!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 115 ✭✭dazzlemoo

At least we know it's not us-the fault has to be with Hotmail itself..I'm sure it'll be fixed soon.
I managed to email them from my Gmail account. I don't have any problems with Gmail or Yahoo.
I'll let you know if I get a reply

I've been having similar issues with hotmail also.

I tried logging in at work (Smart Business 24Mb) and now from home (UPC 50Mb) from both Firefox 11.0 & 12.0 and IE9 and am getting the same results.

I can log in find but I can't see any mails and I cannot access any folders.

It works grand with the browser on my phone though.

down right now is showing "likely service disruption" so it certainly seems to be more of an issue than just ISP. From the looks of the graph its been going on for 6 or 7 hours now.

My provider is 3 got on to them they said wait a few days this is the first time this has happen i have try everything there must be someone out there to can fix this problem, if its not one thing its another

Hotmail is screwed for me too.
    I'm with vodafone landline broadband.
Can anyone get it to work?

Not working here on 4 browsers on a new laptop, 3 browsers on an old laptop, 2 browsers on a Mac and on Smart broadband. Somehow don't think it's a caching issue on this end. :pac:

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 11,017 Mod ✭✭✭✭yoyo

The problem looks to be a Microsoft issue, you should contact your ISP and hopefully they can get on to Microsoft and try sort the issue, still works fine here, UPC 50mb

the funny thing is why would you ring eircom about an issue with your hotmail account? They dont host it....

In fairness there does seem to be issues on Microsofts end if people with different providers are having similar issues. No harm with letting the isp know though so they can get Microsoft to look into it

A quick google hotmail issue brings up an up to date page concerning the problem and its widespread.

Yeah I'd problems today trying to get hotmail on iPad and lap top unsuccessful however I managed to get full site on the stand alone pc it took me half an hour to send an email but it was sent.

Microsofts status page doesn't mention any issue (here) which is odd,

Thats a fair point but from the post I quoted, the poster was told it wasnt an eircom issue, was given good advice about what it could be but still moans about eircom, where a quick google shows loads of websites in the state's saying they are having issues.

I mis-read your post earlier, appologies. I read it as eircom said to the person they don't host it thinking that it was an excuse given :o

Yep, I can log in fine but then the page takes ages to appear and when it does my inbox label and folder labels on the left are in blue ink and I get diddly squat on the rest of the page. My inbox or folders won't open either. Been like that for 2 days now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,186 ✭✭✭Niles

I can log in but the layout is all over the place, my list of emails is way down the bottom of the page and I can't open them... Trried it on both Chrome and IE Explorer, ISP is Eircom.

As dogmax pointed out the MSN site is also less than perfect.
