    Hi guys

i currently work out 2 times per week (dead lifts, squats etc)

Would anyone have an opinion if 3 or 4 days per week is better?

can you really get huge gains on 3 times per week

each session i do 12-14 sets in total

So you're asking if working out more will benefit you....

I don't think you'll kill yourself upping it to 3/4 times a week.

    From 12 - 14 sets 2x per week? Nope.

EDIT: For someone asking advice, you're very combative.

It's what athletes with intense training can suffer from?

I wouldn't worry about that to be honest. I'm in the gym or doing muay thai or kickboxing 5-6 days per week. I work in at least 2-3 weights sessions per week as well as conditioning and cardio.
When i win the lotto and can train in the gym 6 days a week for 4 hours at a go, then i may hit a wall

I wouldn't be too concerned about over training. Its really difficult to over train. The average gym goer should worry more about stupid training than over training. Doing 3/4 days should be fine

    typo in post

i currently do 3 days, thinking of upping it to 4

i have read that 3 is best as it leaves time for recovery etc.

well what you could do is up it to 4...for say 6 weeks, see what your gains are like and make the call then!! there is god know how many combinations of routines and splits that could be posted, best idea is to test it out yourself and see if it works for you!!

Exactly, i do a 4 day split and that works best for me but everyone is different. Give it ago and you will soon find out if your overtraining. I doubt you will be if your doing a sensible 4 day split.

If you're doing 3 days and only doing squats and deadlifts what are you doing on your 3rd day??

I came across this compound routine. 4 days per week. It looks very good.

3 Full Body days and a day of sprinting, Hill work, Sled pulling etc is normally a good layout.

That said I train 4-5 days a week and squat 3 of them days and haev never suffered with over training.

So long as your manipulate your reps and sets and don't perform 4 days of 4 x 10 doing a BB bench presses your be fine.

If you wanted to earn money would you work 2 days a week or 7? :pac:

The same applies with training the more you train the better results your get with proper structure.
