Police artists/sketchers in the Garda

Hi

I was wondering if anyone could help me with a query.

Do police artists exist within An Garda Siochana? If a description of a suspect or the layout of a crime scene needs to be sketched, is this something that someone within the force does, or is a freelance artist hired or what?

They use cd-fit, it creates a computer generated image based on a witness' description.

Never heard of artists being used.

As for crime scenes, there's a mapping section that survey electronically, and use CAD software to produce scale plans of scenes.
