Mock your own teams draft

I think it would be a little fun to do a mock draft of just your own team's picks. The winner is the one that gets the highest points.

You get 10 points for a correct player and 10 points more if its with the correct pick.

For example of the Patriots select Courtney Upshaw with the 31st pick and somebody had that they would get 20 points. However if the Patriots picked him with a different pick or move out of the 31st spot then you only get 10 points.

Sadly being a Patriot, admittedly a well armed one, I have virtually no chance of winning this. Belichick just never drafts like we expect him to. And I've been studying his drafts for over 10 years now and watching all his press conferences and am still no closer to having any clue. I'll do my own up in a while but thought I'd get the thread going as soon as possible as there is only a couple of days left.

Aaron Rodgers was a terrible pick.

    Am I doing it right?

No, you need to ban yourself from the internet when you are drunk:D

sounds like a good idea. Gonna steer clear of it for my Jaguars though, they are in the worst position ever, given that their whole draft revolves around who gets taken with the first 6 picks (more than most) :(

    I'm schtone cold schober.

Brett Favre was another bad draft. The Falcons drafted him in rd 2 and he never completed a pass for them before being traded away to the Packers. I wonder what happened him? Draft bust!

Yep all the way and you can even guess at picks being traded etc.

No way I can do 7 rounds.... I'll try the 2.

    Chargers

    #18 David deCastro G Stanford
    #49 Brandon Taylor SS LSU

Others in the mix, Barron if he falls to #18, Melvin Ingram, Mercilus, Kirkpatrick, Chandler Jones, McClellin, Harrison Smith.

God knows what AJ will do.

    NYJ Mock Draft

Pick 16 - Melvin Ingram - DE - South Carolina (We could move up for this dude)
    Pick 47 - Mohamed Sanu - WR - Rutgers
I then think we either move up in the 3rd or maybe even back into the second round to get
    Pick 60ish - Trumaine Johnson - FS - Montana

After that I really havn't paid much detail other than a Right Tackle, 2 Linebackers and a Punter will definitely be taken at some point.

My personal big thing on this draft for GangGreen is we need a runner.
I'm not sold on Shonn Greene whatsoever and Joe Mcknight (Ball control and conditioning aside) is only really a 3rd down back. Bilal Powell I can't judge yet but I would love someone like a LaMichael James or Chris Polk in the 3rd.
Dream scenario obviously would be to trade up to get Trent and Tennebaum has considered it I reckon.

    Mock draft for the Chargers

Il do 4 rounds wouldnt have the know enough of the later round guys.

    1. Quinton Coples - North Carolina (Hightower getting talked about a lot)
    2. Harrison Smith - Norte Dame (May trade up, makes more sense trade up from here then trading up in first for Barron)
    3. Ta'amu - Washington. I thought this guy was the ILB for Notre dame. Watched a lot of him on youtube really like him but we will probably go OL here.
4 Nate Potter Boise State - Il go for OL here.

I think Nick Perry is going to fall deep into the second round too.

    1.Andrew Luck
    2. Coby Fleener
    3 CB
    4.DL
    5.WR
    6.TE/RB
    7.OL

i think we have a couple more 7th rounders. It's impossible to know who'll be on the board after 60-odd picks, so I've chosen positions. It's a total rebuilding effort however -- we have holes everywhere -- so I expect the unexpected. If Fleener is on the board at 34, he's a certainty.

Good Colts mock draft here: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1143204-indianapolis-colts-mock-draft-building-the-perfect-7-round-draft

Colts - so many holes to fill this is near impossible but:

    1. Andrew luck QB
    2. Janaris Jenkins CB - fleener will be gone, so I think we will look at the defence here. Jenkins has loads of positives (skill, need, upgrade on what's there, immediate starter) with one negative (character issues)
    3. Alameda Ta'amu NT - I've seen NT/DL here on a lot of mock drafts here, and with the change to a 3-4 we need this. As the 2nd rated NT Ta'amu could be long gone, but if he is they may look to chapman from Alabama
    4. A.J. Jenkins WR - Some help for Luck (eventually)! I think they look at a slot receiver here with Collies concussion issues and Wayne/Avery for the outside

After the above I really can't guess apart from the fact they will take a TE at some stage, another DL probably and a RB. OL is probably one of the least likely / lower round picks judging by the free agency signings and the fact they went OL in rounds 1 & 2 last year.

    1 - Dont'a Hightower LB Alabama
    2 - Amini Silatolu G Midwestern
3 - Brian Quick WR Appalacian State
4 - Jake Bequette OLB Arkansas
    5 - TY Hilton WR/KR Florida International
6 - Janzon Jackson, FS Tennessee
7 - Markus Kuhn, DT, North Carolina State

    UDFA:
    Bruno Gradowski C Delaware
Bring in a QB, good potential to be put on the practice squad . Hunter Cantwell didn't work out but we'll take a flyer on someone.
    Greg Zuerlein K Missiouri Western
Bring in some more Dlinemen, we're a bit light here

This draft will cover most everything.
However we lost two Dlinemen to Pagano in Indy so we do need to reload here. Go to free agency if needed

edit: I'm not saying Hightower and Jackson are going to be future franchise players but the time to bring in young linebackers and free safeties is now
Not waiting until Lewis and Reed are gone
The young players would improve rapidly with mentoring from those two

My team: New England Patriots and the greatest draft wheeler dealer of them all Mr Bill Belichick. The likleyhood is that I get no pick right.redface.gif And I'm going to put waaay too much effort into this.frown.gif

    Ist round
Pick 27 Whitney Marcilus DE/OLB Illinois
Pick 31 Traded to Atlanta Falcons for pick 55 and 2013 1st round pick

    2nd round
Pick 48 Harrison Smith S Notre Dame
Pick 55 (From Atlanta) traded to Miami Dolphins for picks 72, 103 and 145
Pick 62 Bruce Irvin DE/OLB West Virginia
Pick 72 Traded to Green Bay Packers for picks 90, 123, 163 and 197
    3rd round
Pick 90 Zebrie Sanders OT Florida State
Pick 93 Ron Brooks CB LSU
    4th round
Pick 103 Chris Rainey RB Florida
Pick 123 & 197 traded to Cleveland Browns for picks 139 and 160
Pick 126 Alfonzo Dennard CB Nebraska
    5th round
Pick 139 Greg Childs WR Arkansas
Pick 145 Jaye Howard DT Florida
Pick 160 Traded to Minnesota Vikings for picks 175 and 210
Pick 163 Audie Cole MLB NC State
    6th round
Pick 175 Julian Miller DE/OLB West Viriginia
Pick 197 Traded to Cleveland Browns(see pick 123)
    7th round
Pick 210 Marcel Jones OT Nebraska

Finally done, that took a long time guys.biggrin.gif

Just some notes. I'm of the opinion that the Falcons want Coby Fleener and are willing to do what it takes(much like last year with Julio Jones) to get their man. Anthony Gonzalez is now 36 and they really don't have any depth in that position.
I fancy the Packers will look to move up in the mid rounds due to having so many compensatory picks. I think they will look to use some of their picks to gain a better prospect because they cannot trade those comp picks.
The Browns have two compensatory picks at the end of the 6th round and I think theres every chance that Homgren moves up in the 4th and snags somebody he really wants. Another trade partner for that 4th round pick would be the Bengals who currently have 3 fifth round picks.

Just looking over it now it looks a bit like a Patriots draft with all the trades(probably not half enough there) but its just a wild guess at what will happen. I used draft trade value chart for all the trades to make them as realistic as possible.

The one thing I'd be shocked if I didn't get right is New England have two firsts next year.

fair play eagle eye, its much easier to be a Giants fan as you know it'll b whoever falls to us.

Can I ask you what chances of Bill packaging both his 1st rounders and a couple of 2nds for an elite prospect like Poe, Blackmon or DeCastro or is he saving up to trade up to replace Brady eventually?

Its very rare that he does it and when he does he has done well when he did do it. Last time he moved up was for Jerod Mayo which turned out really good and before that for Daniel Graham who worked out well too.

Edit: And just after I reply to you I read that the Patriots are enquiring as to what it would take to get the no.12 pick from Seattle. Makes my huge effort look daft. Thats always the way with Bill. When will I learn!?!?

Ha ha, add to the list of draft rumours today.

Who would they be trading up for? Kuechly?

I hope you're right on Greg Childs EE, I would absolutely love it if we got him, even for a 3rd rounder pick but a 5th rounder would be amazing value.

Not to be nitpicking but no chance Harrison Smith falls to 48.

Has Alfonso Dennard's stock really fallen that far after the arrest?

Yea Dennard stock is going down as quick as Vontaze Burficts did. At best Dennard is a 4th rounder now.
