cousin was just telling me his 2007 golf 1.4 petrol is up for a timing belt change, it has 110k on it and its supposed to be done at 120k.

Is this a main dealer job requiring specialist tools and having to reset service lights or should any compotent mechanic be able to do it?

Any decent garage should be well capable of doing them. Make sure the full kit with both belts is changed plus the water pump. Expect to pay around the €320 mark in total for the job in an independent garage.

It should be done at 90k AFAIR. A good indy should be able for it no bother and should cost about 350.

    Where is is based??
