To be honest they look crap. I needed a car at the end of 2007 and bought an 05 Primera. It was only to tie me over until early 2008 till I got another A4. I still have it and hopefully will have it for another few of years, I love it. It now has about 150000 miles and is still as good as the day I got it. It has cost me nothing except services and tires.

    Hope this helps

great cars my uncle has an 05, no problems the last 2 years, also i know people who has an 03 almera saloon. 1.5 they have it 4 years with 3 kids and a massive dog plenty of room never a days problem great on petrol too.

The reason i say they are cheap is mainly due to the fact they are not made any more, but then again they are still great cars:D

I had one for a year while ago.
It was 2003 primera 1.8 petrol.

What I loved about this car the most was design. Hatchback's rear was really great looking. Dashboard completely different than in most cars. Generally I loved it.
Mechanically it was grand. Only problems I had through all year and 25k kms was suspension (ball joints loose, track-rod end loose).
People say there are problems with gearbox. Also window regulator breaks down quite often. Nothing like this happened to me. Also there is opinion that 1.6 and 1.8 petrol engines like burning oil. Mine wasn't.
It's comfortable car, but suspension is in my opinion too soft, and makes this car poor handling on bendy roads. Great though for motorway driving.

Bought a new one in 05 as they looked pretty nice back then.
Plenty of space and comfortable, the 1.6L petrol could do with a bit more poke but rock solid on the road.
In the 6 years I had her the only costs I had was a wheel bearing replacement which cost me about €180 (something to do with it all being one unit) and the services and tyres.
I had the 1.6L, no problems with burning oil or anything like that.

Enginewise they'er rock solid and I can't fault them at all.
Dash is very intuitive and nicely laid out.

I bought an 05 one this time last year. I regreted it at first because I had my heart set on a focus saloon. As time has gone by ive grown to love it, fast enough, solid on all roads and an absolute huge amount of space although the glove box and door pockets are a bit tight. Ive had the drivers side regulator go on mine but its a common problem and one I was aware of before buying.

I was put off them by a friend's experience with one of that era. The power steering gave out while he was cornering. He managed to control it but was convinced that if his wife had been at the wheel she'd have been into the wall. Probably a one in a million case as I know Nissan have a good rep for reliability generally but that incident put me off them rightly or wrongly.

My 1.8 was great on fuel on gentle constant speed driving at low speeds.

Like keeping 70km/h on 5th gear without slowing downs and accelerations you could easily go down to about 5.5 litres/100km.

Normal country road driving - about 8 l/100km.
In city driving about 9 to 10 l/100km.
    Motorway driving at 120km/h - 8.5 l/100km
    Motorway driviug at 140km/h - 11 l/100km
    Motorway driving at 170km/h - over 16 l/100km.

So at higher speeds consumption goes up to some ridiculous values.
1.6 will be probably even worse at high speeds, while probably about the same in city driving.

    I had the 1.6l,
Averaging about 8.2l /100km with combined motorway city driving.
On a full tank (59 litres) I would get approx 700-850km depending on my driving style.

Had the p10 1995 although as dull as dishwater,But a reliable and easy to work on car ... Mine had 200,000 mls on it when I sold it on its original clutch!

the most reliable ones are the 1990-99 models and can be got for a couple of hundred

The newer p11s are ok too my dad had one and it's pretty solid seeing as he doesn't look after it in the least!

The last genre has a softer gearbox which can lead to expensive repairs

All 3 have timing chains afaik.

    A true bangeromics car
