Irish coins in Cork ?

    Hi,

I am based in Cork and would like to collect a set ( ok almost the whole set ) of Irish Modern Coins 1928 - 1969 in UNC condition ( for most types - I know it gets pricey so I'll settle for some lower grades ) for myself and my son.

There are no coin dealers here that I know of and I don't want to buy over the net due to postage costs etc.

Where could I find these coins locally ?

    Many thanks,

    HobbyMan

There was, and there probably still is, though I haven't been for a while, a stamp, coin and callcard collectors market in the Imperial on last sat of every month. Give the hotel a bell and they'll put you right.

Postage costs are insignificant if you can find someone to supply you most of the coins in one go. I wouldn't restrict myself to Cork if I was you. Shop around even the Irish dealers and you should find someone. Attending the coin fairs would be the easiest way of getting everything you want, but the next main one won't be till October. Be prepared to spend big money if you want them in UNC. If you want any tips depending on how you want to approach this, feel free to ask me questions by PM.

I have a 2002 Italian 2euro coin which is not bi-metallic. It is all silver.

Would anybody have an idea how much it is worth?

I checked on the internet and the only other mention of a non bi-metallic 2 euro was an Austrian version and the website said it was a rare coin.

    Any reply would be appreciated

No, I am buying them online though I have bought some at the imperial hotel also.
