Do TDs have to be sworn in or such like?

    Does anyone know?

Or are their obligations set out when they go for election or get elected?

If there is documentation involved does anyone have links to it?

What I am getting at is could politicians be held personally responsible for ignoring warnings such as this and be liable for the consequences?

    Thanks

There's no oath that TDs or Ministers have to swear, if that's what you're asking.

Even if there was, there's hardly be a provision in it that they had to act upon the opinions of an independent organisation like the ESRI (regardless of how accurate those opinions turned out to be).

Member of the Council of State In the presence of Almighty God I, (name), do solemnly and sincerely promise and declare that I will faithfully and conscientiously fulfil my duties as a member of the Council of State.

Judge In the presence of Almighty God I, (name), do solemnly and sincerely promise and declare that I will duly and faithfully and to the best of my knowledge and power execute the office of (office) without fear or favour, affection or ill-will towards any man, and that I will uphold the Constitution and the laws. What one is supposed to do in the absence of Almighty God is unclear. Maybe wait for Him to show up.
