cannot get Samsung galaxys2 to connect to computer?

    Have a problem with my phone its a Samsung galaxy s2 . Was trying to save my pictures on the lap top and desk top and for some reason it does not recognise my phone when i plug it in the USB . Do you know whats wrong. Do i need kies software on computer to make it connect?

    If you don't have Kies installed try installing it. It should install the drivers for your phone to connect to your computer.

    If you want to avoid installing Kies (one of the worst pieces of software I have ever used) then go to settings/applications/development and enable USB debugging. Windows 7 (if that's what you are using) will find its own drivers for it and you will see it as removable storage. Browse to DCIM folder for your pictures.

    Wrong and wrong.

    All you need to do is connect cable, then select mount from the "usb connected" notification. This is the old way with gingerbread, with ICS it should just automatically mount.

    Don't need kies to do simple file copying.

    USB debugging = for developers, installs ADB drivers. Not needed.
