Tiling chimney breast

Hi there,
We are intending to tile our chimney breast around a solid fuel insert stove to disguise a poor plastering job. The tiles will be flush up against the outside of the stove, but will finish about 8mm proud of it, so we will need to use some sort of tile edging to finish them. The stove is black iron and so far the only black tile edging I can find is plastic, which is obviously not suitable for the heat. Can anyone suggest where I could get black metal tile edging? A tiler had suggested getting a 10mm strip of black wrought iron to make one so again could anyone please suggest where I might get one of these? Or if any other solutions to this problem?

Why dont you chisel back the old poor plaster and then use the right amount of tile adhesive and tile thickness to come out flush with the stove.;)

A lump hammer or an SDS drill and a wide head chisel bit and you will have it done in no time at all.



You can buy various stove frames from Heating Distributors.They cost about 100 euro though.:(

I have a 2 inch black frame on my Stovax Riva 66 insert stove.

Might be worth testing the heat resistance of the tiles before you have them installed.
