    Hi All,

I'm getting married over the coming months and we're planning to have a Eastern Mediterranean Cruise with the Royal Caribbean company (the Navigator). It looks really nice.

We wanted to know is there a particular dress code for the ships (cruises...), i.e., is there a formal dinner dress code or what is the norm for these things?

We would really appreciate any insights on this.

    Many thanks!

Most cruises these days are fairly casual although there is still normally 'meet the captain' formal nights where people dress up. You may also want to dress up to go to the casino or one of the shows, but most will be failry casual.

Yeah it's all very casual most of the time but there are formal nights that you will dress up for, men in suits, women in dresses, usually you are told in advance how many formal nights there are for your cruise and what nights they are. When I was on a cruise, royal Caribbean too, the people who wore jeans on a formal night stood out I was glad to be in a dress.....

After that though, just your normal clothes!

That's great! Thanks for your replies. I must find out whether there are many formal nights ;)

Did you enjoy your experience on the cruise?

Yeah, cruising is a great way to get around and see lots of different places in one holiday, wouldn't be too happy if there were too many days where you are cruising and don't get to get off the boat though....a week was enough for us too, you get fairly bored of the food! I'd definitely go on another cruise though waking up in a different location every day just can't be beaten.

    Hiya,

If you're going on a 7 night cruise with Royal Caribbean there will be two formal nights. Usually on the 2nd and 2nd last night, but you'll find out once you're on board. Some people go all out for these nights (dressed as if they're going to balls) but you'll be fine with a nice dress. There'll also be photographers all over the ship on these nights so it's a lovely opportunity to get you pic took with your new hubby :D

People dress fairly casually during the day, however most people would change into a sundress/nice top and trousers if eating in the dining room at night. And no shorts are allowed in it.

I was just looking at that very same cruise today - the ports of call look class. I'm very jealous!

First of all you are going to have a amazing honeymoon. Make sure your travel agent lets RC know it is your honeymoon. For my Husbands birthday last year, they left champagne in our stateroom. I never asked the travel agent to tell then but he did. It was a lovely surprise.

On a 7 night criuse. You will have 2 Formal nights. Men in suits, shirt and tie or you can hire a tux before you leave that will be in your stateroom when you arrive. Ladies Cocktail dresses. A few go all out, ball dresses but no need. You will also have a number of smart casual nights as in trousers and collored shirt/polo shirt for the Hubby and summer dress/linen trousers/top for your self. Then 2 casual nights shorts/t-shirts,

It pretty much goes as follows

    Evening 1.Casual
    Evening 2 Formal
    Evening 3 Smart Casual
    Evening 4 Smart Casual
    Evening 5 Smart Casual
    Evening 6 Formal
    Evening 7 Casual

Lots of chances to get your photo taken and I would say go for it at every chance. You DO NOT have to buy any. We have got a couple of the photos from each trip and they are fantastic.

Don't forget if you don't want to dress up you can eat in the windjammer without having to worry about any dress code but the getting dressed up is really the fun bit!!

I am in my 30's and my Husband in his 40's and have cruised many times so if you have any question just PM me about anything to do with your cruise.

I promise you will love it. The champage bar is lovely for a pre dinner drink as is the cocktail bar. Don't be shocked to find you have put on half a stone over the week.

Also worth noting if you don't want to buy a wine package you can just order your wine at dinner and if you don't want to finish the bottle they will cork and hold it for you for the next night. Also as a honeymoon couple it might be worth requesting a table for 2 otherwise you will be placed at dinner with other people, now they do try to seat you with other couples your age and if possible on honeymoon but I like to have my husband all to myself at dinner and we always request a table for 2. I hardly see him with ork so when we go away he is all mine!! You will meet lots of people anyway and we have made a couple of friend who we are still in touch with and who came to visit.

I would suggest one of you buy the soda package as its is really handy and works out much cheaper. We just get one and share it if we need or want a soft drink.

Take your camera with you all the time and ask other guest to take photos for you. The memories are fantastic.

Also sometimes it best not to book tours and just get the shuttle bus normally $10 return from the ship to town etc and do your own tour unless it is someplace you really want to go on a tour to.

Each night you will get a Cruise Compass left in your room which is really the ships news and lets yo know what events and activities are hapen when and where the next day. Alos info on going a shore, times and anything you need to know. They also do guest announcements if you want to surprise you new hubby with a "I love you husband " message

As I am sure you know the ship is cashless except for the casino. You use your seapass card for everything. Shopping, buying drinks, opening your stateroom door!! You either pay cash up frount or regisiter a credit card to settle your account.

Any questions feel free to PM. So excited for you and we have our cruise already booked for this year!
